Neat!
That looks similar to a Mazda Mx3. Sort of.
I wouldn't want one: too much power for me!

Looks like a good looking car. Would love to see more pics of your's. Great MPG, good looks (I think), and pretty typical power makes no sense why USA didn't get the car. It ALMOST looks like it might have been on the Cougar chassis but I'm not familiar enough with either to make that decision. Both being named after the same cat could mean they are the same car. Either way, I think from the back your Puma looks better than our Cougar.

they did a cooking 1400cc version which did
Consumption Specifications
city 9.5l/100km
combined 7.2l/100km
Highway5.9l/100km
hardly worth the effort? especially as it
drops 35bhp
drops 27ft/lb of torque and is
3.2 sec slower to 60mph..
figures taken from
Ford Puma 1.4i 16V, Manual, 1998 - 2000, 90 Hp, 3 doors Technical Specifications, CO2

your Cougar looks very smart!
they are both 'New Edge' designs produced by ford at the turn of the century.
As chefdave states, your Cougar is based on the Mondeo and came owith a 2.0 or 2
5v6 over here. The puma is 2 classes smaller (Ford Focus being the in-between size) and is based on the Fiesta.

Contour\Fusion in the US and Mondeo elsewhere? Same car and chassis, but different name?

I'd totally drive that, make it even better throwing the 1.0L turbo and you'd have a very nice car IMO. As Darin said, you definitely don't need 1.7L (the 1.0 has more oomph anyways, haha).
