Will Scan Gauge work on mine?
Hi all!
I took a look at the ScanGauge web site the other day.
I have a 95 Chevy S10 with a 4 cylinder engine. Will scangauge work with it? It lists the Blazer and S10 for that year, but only with the 4.3L V6. What is different between those two versions of the same truck?

Also, if I bought one, would it be easy to transfer to my wife's Pontiac Sunfire for long trips? I assume I just have to replug the OBD2 connector and change a few settings on the gauge.

Does the s10 have obd2? You're correct about the change.

According to the Haynes repair manual it does. I haven't been digging under the dash for it yet. It is cold out.
My decision all week is whether to drive the car for front wheel drive on the snow, or the truck for heat...

That's all it should need then. You can prolly call scangauge and check, in either case.

I have no idea what an OBDI looks like.
I image Googled the OBDII connector, and what I have in the truck looks like what I found pictures of on the internet.
I also got the bright idea that my wife's 2000 Sunfire would have an OBDII connector, and that I should just look under her dashboard.
The connector in her can and my truck are the same shape, but there are different pins that have conductors. Is that something done between different brands?
See the pictures.
The first is from the 95 Chevy S10, the second is from the 2000 Pontiac Sunfire.
Does this look like the Scan Gauge would work with the S10?

I can't answer the specifics, but I would think your truck is ready to go. From what I remember obd1 doesn't really have a diagnostics port, so if you've got something obd2 like you're prolly good to go.

From what I have read, different car makers had to comply with the OBDII standard by 1996, but may have been implementing parts of the standard before that year, i.e. in preparation. It *might* be that the truck will talk to the ScanGauge, but not report all the data. In the table you showed from ScanGauge, it *might* be that the programming for the 4.3 liter S10 was more advanced than the programming for 4 cylinder.
I can see from the picture that the connections are different. My car is different too.
I would send ScanGauge an e-mail and see what they say.
EDIT: The ScanGauge can be transferred to the Sunfire, no problemo. You just have to set the engine size and tank size.

Newby here
I ordered a ScanGauge and goofed. I was thinking my Metro was a 96 and it turned out to be a 95. Is there any way to adapt an OBDI to a OBDII? or do I need to send it back? I am fairly handy electrically.

Even though the Scan Gauge won't work with my truck, I did NOT return it.
I am using it on my wife's Pontiac Sunfire. We use that car for trips to relative's and I would also like to start tracking her economy better as well.
Also, I have already used it twice to read "check engine light" codes on various vehicles.
A handy device to have around!
