You missed pictures of moving a 200ft plus blade moving through the Scottish country side . I wonder about side loads on that in a wind.

Styrofoam, fiberglass and epoxy resin roasting over an open hydraulic fluid fuelled fire...
Picture from the Nolan, Texas volunteer fire department.

This happened just days after a lightning storm, probably related.

Only one blade, hmmm. Guessing it was a lightning strike. Wife has stories of turbines saying "Hit ME" during the periodic thunderstorms we had in Tehachapi

Everyone expects drilling for oil to be dangerous. People expect wind turbines to just a be boring blight on the landscape.

Can't hide this one.
https://reneweconomy.com.au/turbines...y-maintenance/

6 year old wind turbines all being shutdown for "heavy maintenance" sounds like repair of a catastrophic design flaw. If they "just needed maintenance" they wouldn't turn them all off.

The main reason Buckminster Fuller advanced for indoor windmills was the ease of maintenance.

We should drill baby drill in Yellowstone and tap all that geothermal energy. It was the most disappointing national park I'd ever been to. Don't know what those animals are eating besides rocks, twigs, and scraggly dry brush.

That solves one problem, then introduces building construction and maintenance.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_updraft_tower
Quote:

The solar updraft tower (SUT) is a design concept for a renewable-energy power plant for generating electricity from low temperature solar heat. Sunshine heats the air beneath a very wide greenhouse-like roofed collector structure surrounding the central base of a very tall chimney tower. The resulting convection causes a hot air updraft in the tower by the chimney effect. This airflow drives wind turbines, placed in the chimney updraft or around the chimney base, to produce electricity.

Repetitive fiberglass elements with ETFE inflated pillows inflill. Built and maintained by drones.
