I guess we will know next week what a land war in Europe does to gas prices.

Winter 2022 heating has started. Yesterday I warmed up the house a bit by burning the paper and card board trash I started saving from late July or early august.

I'm thinking it's time to use the coal furnace for water heating. A propylene glycol loop that won't freeze and an old hot water heater seems like the way to go.

This appears to be the correct thread for this:
I think it's a good backgrounder on the rocket stove concept and general design considerations for various use cases.
I was extra-specially pleased when at ?t=214 he cites Aprevecho Institute. Because they are in Cottage Gove, OR.
Aprovecho Research Center- testing and improving biomass cookstoves
[surpising that they are not HTTPS. Browse at your own risk]

I have their Firefly cookstove/lantern, but it's stored in a bug-out bag so it doesn't get much use. I really like the Argand lamp he has on the desk. It's very similar but from 1780 and solid brass.

I thought that's what you have.
Does it incorporate a pyrolyzer?
