Maybe Biden is going for the all-time record and trying raise prices higher than when Bush was in office. Gas was $4.15 back in the summer of 2008 - $5.40 in today's dollars.
OR .... Oil and gasoline are global commodities with prices set at auction and prices swing up and down wildly based on global factors - not who is currently President of the United States.

Makes me wonder what size place you're heating. It must be huge.
I run ~2 Kilowats of [hydro-]electric heat. OTOH we only get into the 20s.

The USA has been a net exporter of petroleum products since 2011. As gas prices were spiking in the mid 2010's US companies were shipping increasing amounts of gasoline and diesel overseas.
Latest data shows the US is still a net exporter of petroleum products AND crude oil.

Not the latest data...

Following its historic shift to being a net exporter of petroleum in 2020, the United States continued to export more petroleum (which includes crude oil, refined petroleum products, and other liquids) than it imported in 2021. According to our February 2022 Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), we expect net crude oil imports to increase, making the United States a net importer of petroleum in 2022.

It's well known the US takes delivery of oil, refines it and ships it off. Buying electric and using the United States massive oil refining capacity to power friendly nations will make America great again.

Are we still exporting raw logs to Asia for milling? I always questioned that.

I heard Canada does that too. It doesn't appear to make any sense. I say some of the logs are probably hollow and filled with money.
