Take how ever much one spill will cost and roll that into some kind of spill prevention or spill stopper setup. Preferably something reuseable and moveable so when that pipe line dries up it can be reused elsewhere.

Yep so we will just continue to move that oil by rail.
There is a train car manufacturing facility in fort worth texas, they made all shapes and sizes of different types of rail car, pretty much everything but passenger cars. Now all they have been making for the last year and a half is oil tanker cars.
That's 4 or 5 cars a day, every single day.
They stopped a pipeline, but in reality have done nothing to stop the pipeline.

Where I live 60 to 100 trains a day pass through each day.
A lot of them dragging oil tankers. Most of them new looking.
In 2011 I didn't see oil tankers all the time like I do now.
But if it makes you sleep better at night go ahead and believe that article.

It isn't an article; it's just a picture.
With the low oil prices over the past year, shale oil production has fallen, and production forecasts have been lowered through 2019. There's still a lot of oil coming out of that ground, though, several hundred thousand barrels a day, and it will be transported, pipeline or no.

The sad thing is some people see the defeat of the pipe line as a victory.
Now instead of the oil efficiently flowing through an underground pipe it is being haphazardly transported by much more expensive non emission regulated trains.
The loser is the environment.

So now instead of having a pipeline that no one will see going beneath fly over country not making any noise and emitting virtually no exhaust will be replaced by trains. Loud, smoky, vulnerable trains will be carrying oil to the northwest coast.
It sucks when I am right.

Enjoy not having the pipeline, HA!
I knew they were staging those oil tankers.
I am pretty sure virtually everyone in east texas wanted the oil pipe line.
I have a feeling virtually no one in Oregon and Washington wanted a 400% increase of oil tanker rail cars.
Thank that guy who blocked the pipe line.

I'm sure you know, but guess who's pocket most of the money made from those trains goes in to? Warren Buffet. So those blocking the pipeline constantly hoot and holler about the Koch brothers even though they have no profit motive in this fight. Who does have a profit motive? The guy giving billions to the politicians blocking the pipeline.
