I enjoy how the first people did it and then some CleanMPG people went out to show them really how to do it.

I started to read that one of the hypermilers has previously got over 40MPG in a SUV.
Hypermiling - Jennie Chen vs. Houston's KPRC Amy Davis
But the best part (for me, anyways) is this:

^ the "SUV" in question was a Honda CRV with a Highway rating of 27mpg.
Impressive no doubt, but the SUV in mind was something that got below 20.

Equally impressive, I would say!

Welcome to EM, Trevor. I saw your site for the first time yesterday. Nice work on your Metro.

I am very pleased to hear that 58 mpg is not the record......to even claim a record at that number is just so shallow.
Yes the Metro has been an interesting exercise.
I'm pleased with how well it is running and, with the winter MPG number of 58-59 mpg
I've got a couple more new things to try, probably in the spring but first want to fit the 3.52 final drive gears which I'll do over the Christmas holidays.
I'd really like to lower the car 3" (from 7 to 4) without hurting the ride. If anyone reading has a solution, I'd like to hear from them.
Thanks
TH

I don't see what the problem is with the 58 mpg record. It's a respectable number for the car they were driving. You can't compare a Metro with a with a Jetta, and you can't really compare a small segment with a 9000 miles trip.
