I would rather have an Insight, if you found an Insight with a 5 speed I would sell you my Civic VX for the cost of that Insight.
Only issue that I have with the Insight is that it's a 2 seater with a smaller cargo area so there are a handful of times per year that I'd need to swap cars with someone.

The cargo area is pretty big actually as far as useful space. The only thing i wouldn't put in it is a large flat screen tv, or 300lbs of dirt. It could haul the dirt, but it wouldn't like it. I've left 6'5 foot fishing poles inside, and slept in the back.

The prices on used Insights have dropped from a high this summer. Pretty reasonable since most original IMA batteries have lost enough capacity to show an IMA light. Say $2k-$3.5k depending on the situation. A $3.5k car now might've gone for $4-5K last summer.

Just so you know, Insights are rare, but they are probably the best value of money vs mpg. You can get one for the same price as any other decent used car. So it is a viable option for most people.

There is a guy buying up all the low priced Insights. He has about a dozen now.
