I've been charting my electricity usage for the past month and my MPG equivalent average is around 500mpg.

With 400mpg being the lowest recorded efficiency, and almost 588mpg being the highest. No matter how aggressive I am with the throttle application, the worst reading I can possibly get is 380mpg. Which is still less than one penny per mile traveled.

500mpg? Sweet.

Avg range: 20-30 miles
Top Speed: 24mph

The batteries are starting to show their age.

Okay, my range completely plummeted in the past week. The batteries now need to be replaced because I've gone from 20 miles of range to now only 8.
Also, my rear tire tube blew out.

Very interesting read. I'm new to the scene but a long time scooter fan and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this project.

I'd love to have a friend like you local to me so I could learn the in's and out's of EV's in person.

Currently I'm riding a 04 Honda Reflex 250cc. It's getting 71mpg average and upwards of 75mpg when I baby it. I'm hitting 60-70mph every day on it though so it is a trade-off.

Please keep us updated with your progress and thoughts. If you ever get the feeling no'one cares, you'd be wrong!

Unfortunately for you there aren't very many EVers to be found in Alabama. There are only 4 results in the EV album.
EVAlbum: Alabama

If you want to take a day trip there are a couple dealerships in Atlanta that have Vectrix scooters you could test drive.

I've looked into the Vectrix but the price and the top speed are not condusive to staying alive on Alabama roadways. We invented Nascar, if you can't do 70mph at some point then you aren't allowed on the road.

Most people here are only concerned with speed. I'm not so much concerned with the environment as I am going as fast as I can on as little fuel as possible. I'm very close to buying a CAMI Biotrike and possibly a new Aptera 2e next year. I like quirky vehicles and scooters fit the bill here in the south!

Ah. If you want to read up on DIY options the endless-sphere forum has a ton of motorcycle and scooter conversion enthusiasts.

Currently there's nothing on two wheels commercially available that can sustain the speeds you need to. So a build around an Agni 95 Reinforced motor would be your only option at present if you want to go electric.

I get by on a tiny budget because I don't have to go very far and it's all on neighborhood roads.

Yeah, I'm keeping my 250cc gas burner and buying a new electric car that is highway capable so I have the best of both worlds. I have a 14 mile roundtrip commute daily and the roads are 55mph limits so I take the scoot most days. I want the hybrid/EV for longer trips or general showing off at car shows.

Battery swap-out and tube replacement was a success. Found out that the brake cable to the rear drum brake wasn't tightened far enough. I'm happily back to puttering around the neighborhood at 24mph.

I've also worked out what to do with the wiring should I want to switch to a controller with regenerative braking.

BTW, by relative fuel economy has increased to an average of 550mpg
