When you fix a corner light with a clear 2 liter soda bottle, an X-acto knife and some clear packing tape.

And on the same car you fix a dud headlight connector by running 3 random wires from the other headlight's prongs across to the bad headlight, running both headlights off the good one's wiring.

And on the same car by repairing rust holes with duct tape and a thin veneer of Bondo.

We loved that car. It was Al (Short for J. Alfred Roofrack). We replaced it with an identical one that had been taken care of better by someone with a lot more money than us- that was Al Junior. Now I'm driving Al the third. It's not an Accord, but it's a blue Honda 4 door that's the same size and weight as the other two.

And Al the third is now well on his way to being a jalopy as well.

Reminds me the day I saw a RHD Toyota Landcruiser J80 turned into a campervan, and it had some pieces of brown packing tape on the left headlight. For a while I thought it was due to some broken lens, but it had been there as a makeshift approach to avoid glare oncoming drivers

I've read that taping headlights is a common solution in places where RHD and LHD cars mingle. English cars driven on the Continent and vice versa come to mind.

How silly of humans to choose sides. We should all drive in the center lanes to avoid this problem :-)

No, the top part of a 2 liter bottle had a similar enough contour to the parking light on my 89 Accord that it became a replacement lens.

I still hope to someday repair the scratches, dents, and other cosmetic problems with my Hondas, but while I had the center consoles out of my Civic I blew out the debris and I dropped a bolt, removed a panel to retrieve it, blew out more debris, and removed 38¢ and a security system that I did not know that I had.

In almost six years I never thought that since the security laser was screwed under the dash that it was aftermarket [and attached to a security system].

Some day I will find out how many ounces that weighed.

Some detritus, coins, and a cheap security system are nowhere as much weight savings as you guys have shown, but it is entirely possible that some parts of my car are cleaner than they were when I bought them or anytime since.

Oh, did I mention that my cigarette lighter was disconnected? Hopefully it works now!

I have not really argued against my car being old and undesirable, but people have told me to buy new ones for most of the time that I have owned them.

I was referring to that Toyota I spotted in my neighborhood, not to your Honda, when I mentioned the taped headlight.
