You know you're an ecomodder if...

While driving home from work, in the slow lane doing 50-55, on a 5 lane freeway you notice that few cars are passing you, and the ones that do pass are doing it slowly. You have a wide open freeway ahead of you. What gives? Then you notice it is because of the Highway Patrol car that happens to be driving behind you, only to use his phone or something non aggressive. No one wants to pass a highway patrol car and if they do, only slowly. So I end up being the pace car for a while. :-)

Some co-workers are talking mileage, and they mention that a K&N air filter gave them "About 5 mpg" by installing it on their car. You ask them how they came to that figure, and they just look at you funny. So you grit your teeth and smile and forget the issue.

What's so many peoples obsession that proving a 50$ air filter was worth the money?

YKYAEM...

When someone at school is saying how removing the catalytic converter will increase their MPG and you laugh because you know it won't help.

When you think about removing the A/C so people stop turning it on.

When getting 30.1MPG on your last fill up was the best part of the day. (No mods yet though)

This is when you ask them what the EPA estimate for their vehicle is, or if they're even aware of how to properly calculate the MPG figure and from what input they do so.

They'll usually just walk away.

You see an overloaded trailer emering from a side road in front of you being pulled by an underpowered Mazda on a 2 lane country road the think "ace, I can slow down".

....or you slow down to make sure he gets in front of you so you can draft him! I had to work my way backwards through traffic so I could get the semi tailgating me in front so I could see the difference it made on the scanguage...

I did find out hanging off the corner of a semi in the next lane somehow improves economy. Very handy info--it's like tailgating a semi really close but safer, since you're not beside him or behind him. Unless of course someone needs to get by. (stinkin speed freaks!)

That works because you're picking up the airflow from the side of the trailer after it separates. Call it "Side Drafting" if you will.

...you see a motorist on the side of the road, putting gas in his vehicle out of a 3 gallon can, halfway down an exit ramp...and you wonder why he didn't use the momentum he had from the very top to go as far as he could.

You've considered buying a 2001-2001 Honda Insight 5-speed and ditching all the hybrid crap so that it's just a 1 liter 3 cylinder car. And the whole time you're thinking it's the perfect body for FE.
