I guess that would be less of a problem for an ocean-going vessel than it is for a truck
But seriously, the urea pellets are carried on board, and then mixed with distilled water. I guess it's not so hard to do that while surrounded by water, considering that some residual heat from the engine itself could also serve the water distillation.

Obviously you've never been in a 12 hour long tactical convoy. Water bottles are pretty easy to refill.

Always make sure that you have two empty water bottles available!
Code browns are a different matter entirely.

It just seems strange to see all this anti-government conspiracy talk on a forum dedicated to minimizing fossil fuel use and pollution. In the US, we would not have clean breathable air or hybrid/electric cars without federal legislation controlling pollution emissions and mandating fuel economy standards.

I must have missed the anti-government conspiracy talk in this thread.
Seems a fairly balanced amount of people that think bunker oil should not be burned in ships, to those like me that question if it should or not, to those that think it's perfectly fine.
My own anecdotal experience is that I don't know of anyone that has ever succumbed to bunker fuel pollution inhalation. People I know die of cancer and heart disease mostly late in life, because humans aren't made to live longer.
I'm willing to go with most any government regulation so long as sufficient effort has been invested to estimate the cost of implementing such regulation, and the expected benefit, and that the benefit outweighs the cost.

redpoint5 makes a joke. But the joke, was its justification for re-pubic-lick-un bean counting.

Been enjoying this thread (over & over), as Natalya dis-members all the re-pubic-lick-un money changers, who want the pollution-laden poor & colored people to die, so an obsessed fossil-fuel industry can collect all its planned trillions of dollars.
