On snow and ice, a small amount of torque on the rear wheels may be all that's needed to get unstuck.

Then again, if I needed (and I mean actually needed, not pretend needed like most people) it would either be something with some serious ground clearance (for deep snow driving, in snow towing, snow plowing and snow-or-not off-roading) or a Toyota Corolla GR (for my racing career, obviously).

the tests you guys reference are old videos from last gen

the 2019-2022 awd prius only had 7 hp in the rear motor. SEVEN!! HAHA

the new 2023 and up has 40 hp for the rear and also better computer system management and sensors and so on

7 hp leap to 40 hp is a huge diff

you guys are just hating on the 7 hp old awd prius. not the new bad boy in town

I wouldn't be surprised if the motor was rated for 40 horsepower (heat rated for spec duty cycle) and it still only got 7 horsepower knowing toyota. They published gen 3 numbers like that, it was very confusing as the motors got what the inverter gave them, not what they were rated for. Maybe somebody will test it out again.
The 0-60 numbers and overall horsepower numbers lead me to believe it could be great or terrible, who knows. 50/50

Now if they can just put atrac on the car that would be really neat. Have each axle brake lock to each side to see if anything extra happens lol

Grey (blah) on steelies with winter tires. Not the most flattering look, but happy to see one around here.


Canadians have always bought dramatically fewer Prii per capita than Americans. Maybe that'll change with this new model.

Why do you think that is? Petrol is pretty expensive per liter there...

When I was in Canada as a 19 year old, I ignorantly thought gas was super cheap, not knowing it was per liter instead of gallon.

Just saw my first gen 5 in grey passing through Silverton (Oregon). Looked good to me.

I've seen about a dozen of the new Prius in person now. While much better than the previous generation with tail fins I'm not a big fan of the new style with the cab-rear styling. Looking at the profile the shape is exactly backwards of what you want for aerodynamics.

Turn the seats around and you have an interesting RWD car instead of a ho-hum FWD

I've said it before but not that Toyota has a hybrid version of pretty much every car they make I don't see the point of the Prius. The Camry Hybrid has 10% more passenger room, is rated for 52 mpg combined, and only costs $1K more. (It has a lot more rear passenger room vs the Prius.) On the other hand the smaller Prius saves the owner $2 a week in fuel.

I take your point, but that sill line starts to remind one of the Morelli shape (exemplified by the Aptera).
