Yes, I'll be re-applying undercoating to the car.

And the long strip is all back in. This takes care of all the structural welding behind the outer skin. Next up is the outer skin and the little bit of the floor pan yet.

What do you have for car lift/stands? Are you lying on the garage floor doing all this?

I just have a regular hydraulic floor jack and standard jack stands, nothing fancy. Most of the work is being done on my back.

Its been too long since I worked on this. Life has been busy. However, I got time tonight to work on it. So, I welded in the most visible pieces of the repair. They turned out pretty good and I don't think I'll do a ton more to them. They might not even get bondo... (remember, this isn't body shop quality work, its get it functional work). I'm planning on hitting the rocker area with truck bed liner anyways to hide stuff and to minimize the color matched paint ($$$) use.

This is the forward piece.

I ground it down with the angle grinder after welding it.

Then hit it with the rusty metal primer.

Next up was the rear piece. I had a bit more practice at this point and it welded in much nicer. I was also able to get a piece of copper bar behind it while I was welding which worked great.

I ground it down and hit it with the primer. Its far from perfect, but unless you're looking for it, it looks pretty good.

That turned out decently.

You're getting close enough that I'm waiting for the before vs. after pics.

Thanks. I'll have to get some more pictures during the day at better angles.

Its getting close to being done on the driver's side. I think another two nights to finish that up. I still have the passenger side to do, but its not nearly as bad. I think about 2 nights of work on it and I'll have it buttoned up. I have other rust on the car to take care of on the hood and rear quarter panels by the wheel wells, but that'll probably wait until next year.

Okay, so a little update. I got a little bit more done last night. Not as much as I wanted to (lots of interruptions), but its still progress! Still a ways to go yet... and this is only the driver's side. Thankfully the passenger side isn't as bad.

Just asking, is it possible to weld in pieces of stainless steel or similar product to fix holes like this?

I mean if you keep replacing it with stainless you end up with a rust free car
