My neighbor is graphing orange tree branches on an apple tree and it appears to be working. Funny how you actually can get oranges from an apple tree, in new Mexico during a mega drought.
Seems like I always saw apple growing on the east side of Cloudcroft, heading to Artesia.
Snowlines are rising faster than trees can migrate. The farther you climb ,at some point, there's no longer any 'soil' or soil microbes.
Without snowpack, it's game over.
According to the archaeologists and Earth's history, all civilizations that relied on irrigation ultimately failed.
It won't be overnight, but there's no optimistic appraisal.

Or put another way, all civilizations have failed.

They either evolve, or disappear. Nothing unique about irrigation with regard to the need to adapt or die.

They don't induce lift like a standoff panel, and you can walk on them. Modest efficiency hit, 'competitive' with a new roof and panels.

3/4 expensive as panels on a new roof, much more than 2 times a 50 year roof but crap I have a newer tin roof.

It could be a lot more than "3/4". I tried to find prices for the actual shingles and couldn't. If it's 3/4 of the fully installed price in California where labor is crazy, that might not be as compelling value.

I kind of wonder if they just buy flexible panels from elsewhere and fuse them to the plastic lol. Profit margins must be huge.

Racked panels on top of a metal roof is the way to go.

Racked panels need 1/4" lag bolts to resist uplift. Good luck if you miss the rafter. The sweet spot is down between the standing seams.

I recently have seen a motorhome fitted with a solar panel which could have its angle adjusted for better exposure to sunlight while parked.

I don't believe my panels are lag bolted to rafters and they have survived 100mph winds.
