Don't ya just love IC technology?
Are you sure it's not oil blow by that's from the PCV valve? On my 1996 T-100 with the 3rzfe engine, I was pulling oil build up out of the throttle body and air plenum with my fingers in chunks. I built and installed a oil catch jar to minimize the oil build up...

I'm late to this thread, but that Celica is mint ! I don't even see them anymore , most ended up in the hands of "I don't care" 3rd owners who ran them to death.

I was curious about the roof wing, and found this opinion/comment.

The wing actually increases lift and drag, but said to be aerodynamically cleaner than rear hatch louvers, therefore it was classed as a sunshade.

Yeah i am trying to bring her back from one of those owners, plan on having it a long time and hopefully restoring her to her former glory.

Current goals, 40 mpg on the stock motor (hit 37a already) full belly pan, splitter, and rear hatch aero.

Katch, the 82/83/84 "Sun Shades" stuck above the roof line and were nasty aero. The later 85 wing was a big improvement, also much sought after rear wing/ spoiler combo. More along the lines of what I invision.

Filled up today, 26+ mpg, on e10, not bad considering how I have been driving, just enjoying the car, lol. Anyhoo getting back on track, got the airdam on the last half of this tank. Switched to straight gas /no ethonol, should be good for 3 mpg or so, then onto the rear aero,

First up will be a kam extension of the roof line, then back to a rear spoiler.

Good mileage, paid for, car you don't see anymore and I remember them being fun to drive. What's the downside ?

No downside, lol. I love this car, and hopfully will have it for a long time.
Met a fellow 3rd gen owner today, works @ autozone near my work. Has a beautiful red lb, with a large upper hatch wing and a similarly sized rear spoiler.

Bam,it's a good thing to keep in mind. Thanks!
So far, even at 345,000-miles the engine has no blow by,quite unlike the Dodge which has nothing but.
This residue had the stink of gasoline which had turned to varnish.
With the CVCC head, there's only a very lean mixture which makes it to the 'regular' intake valves and it doesn't do the fancy cleaning action so popular in recent gasoline advertizing.
There was no residue at all with the pre-combustion chamber manifold runners which are plumbed from a dedicated idle/low-speed carb throat.
Berryman's Carb/Choke cleaner took care of everything.

So I noticed today, 60°rainy off and on the Celica never got above 1/4 way (temp gauge) on the drive to and from work. Before the rebuild ran warm to hot, now when it is warm out it runs a tick under 1/2. Thinking I need to check the thermostat, make sure it isn't stuck open, gut tells me it is.

I hope you get the cooling issue resolved, I loved my 88 Celica, but the one issue I never could sort out on it was the cooling system. In a desperate resort after having paying for a few expensive fixes and overpaying to halfway rebuild the engine, I had to wire the electric fans to run whenever the key was on. Oh and the ac broke for the third time and I didn’t fix it. Never overheated after that, but it was very counterproductive to good gas mileage to run the fans constantly. That car taught me very valuable life lessons such as if you don’t do it yourself it isn’t going to get done right.
