Some other Dave, a link would be great. I would like to share on the other site.
In my experiance I have not noticed a differance, and 2% would be to small to notice.

What do you guys think about spacing the back of the hood up about a inch? Do you think it will affect mpg's I know it will affect cooling. Just thinking the sharp edge of the hood will create vortices.

Hey, how do you think the cam worked and how was the cam different from stock? Also do you think the increased top end power was actually noticable? I'm itching to put slightly bigger intake cams on for more top end and reduced part throttle losses.

The cam is real mild, a engnbldr 268. It uses slightly more lift and duration than stock allowing more air in & out. It is considered a rv cam, thus more torque, which is noticeable, though not huge. The car will pull grades in 5th gear now that it wouldn't before. Hp now, well the car still needs to be tuned @ about3500 rpms I have a misfire, mis, something I cannot put my finger on. The cam is supposed to be good from 1000-5000 rpms, not a reving cam for sure, but neither is the engine. With the new muffler the mis is audible though so when I take it to my mechanic he will know what I am talking about, lol.

Found something interesting under the headliner, pulled it out (the headliner) to drop another pound or five, including the rest of the plastic behind the doors. Have been scraping 30 yr old insulation glue off the roof.

What I found, a big piece of cast iron bolted to the roof.

Debating on removing it, I think it is for sound dampining, going to coat the roof in a rubber coating.

Ideally, the hood would be airtight and the near-field flow would see a uniform acceleration and pressure decrease on the way to the A-pillars and windshield header.
If you 'open' that area you destroy that uniformity which would be a no-no.
A carefully designed extractor at the cowl has been good in the days of the more upright windshields (this was Kamm's actual contribution to streamlining) but modern cars would suffer.
And should you ever blow a radiator hose you'd coat your windshield with glycol,a potentially blinding situation.
