Never use vinegar anywhere near steel as the fumes are highly corrosive!

Yup...the kill switch is the best thing you can do. Set the ScanGauge fuel type to "HYBRID" and sleep setting to "COMM". I can EOC (with kill switch), coast to a stop and sit there indefinitely while my ScanGuage stays awake and keeps counting.

Does anyone have a link to the ECU pinout for a 99 Metro 1.0L? I'm looking to install a kill switch and I need to figure out which is the crankshaft sensor signal wire. Thanks.

Sent you a photo - it's for the '98 Firefly, but you should be able to tell if it's the same.

I've been driving the Metro around a bit over the weekend. I'm definitely still getting settled in with the car. I find it hilarious as I accelerate up a hill while still getting 44 mpg on the instant display! I'd only get that in the Sunfire while coasting at a moderate speed. It also slows down in a coast a lot faster than other cars I've driven. Around town, without any EOC, I'm getting in the low 50s so far. I have very short trips mostly (5-7 miles at most), so warm up mods are planned (block heater, grill block).
I've also slowly been going through the car trying to eliminate rattles and knocks and stuff.
I gave it the seafoam treatment (some in the gas, oil, and intake) this weekend too. As I finish out the tank of gas from the previous owner, I'll let that run through. Once thats done I'll fill up and change the oil. Seems these are pretty carbony engines and semi-frequent cleaning is a good thing for them.
Also on the short list of things to do is add a kill switch. That'll probably be the first mod actually.

The trip in today was a little rainy, but I managed a respectable 58.5 mpg. The SG is also roughly calibrated per Darin's advise, and it should be pretty accurate.

Haha, I dunno about 70 mpg. I think we're being a bit optimistic. We shall see though.
I had a bad commute in this morning. I'm really not sure what happened. I tried more P&G than usual, and I did end up nailing two lights. The SG said I only managed 52 mpg.
I also started working on my kill switch. I only had a few minutes last night, but wanted to get something done. I found the kill switch pieces from my Paseo. It has a nice switch made for many cycles, and wire with crimped ends for the switch already on it.
The necessary bits. Side note, I find it quite funny that the Ford floor mats fit darn near perfectly in the Metro. I didn't know they weren't OEM (Chevy) until I saw the Ford emblem a few days ago.
Routing wiring.
Its just mounted with a zip tie for now. I'll eventually pop a hole in the rubber boot to hide the wire as well.
Tonight I'll get at the ECU and finish wiring it up.
