We dont pay that much for insurance on all of our vehicles combined.
My Ranger and Fiesta combined are $560 a year. The bike is around $100. Her Sorento is almost as much as my 3 combined.

It does look kinda outdated compared to the Corolla and Civic from that time, but doesn't seem to be technically inferior at any extent.

The B13 Sentra is still made and sold in many countries across the globe after 24 years. Interesting thing about valve adjustment, which is done with shims like many motorcycles. The adjustment range is like 10-20 thousandths which probably means the valves are still in spec with that large a range of adjustment even at 175k miles. On my 73Alfa GTV the valve lash had closed 1 thousandth in 100k miles but the Sentra does not require the camshafts to be removed to change the shims.
Muffler installed today, sidemarker tomorrow, then it will be ready for state inspection.

What kind of MPG do you suspect you will be getting with the AT?

After close to 100 miles today and some more fresh fuel ($2.969) from walmart, the idle is smooth and I have the title in my name. Went to the DMV and took care of that, insurance company for insurance, county for taxes and registration and the state inspection. The side marker lamp was in my mailbox when I got back from lunch. When I went to install it the speed nuts basically disintegrated, so another $3.50 to advance for replacements and then the state inspection.
It shifts into neutral and back to drive easily, even at Interstate highway speeds. I think 40 MPG should be fairly easy especially with the formerly weak injector working fine now. Techron and fresh fuel and 100 miles saved me from pulling the manifold.
I'll top it off tomorrow and see what I can do with the engine running right. About $650 total spent right now including all titling and registration-tag fees.

Are you talking about buying the techron bottle inside of chevron? Do you just pour the whole thing into the gas tank?

I bought it at a parts store, just a little over $7. Supposedly the best at cleaning injectors and from my results I would have to agree. They thought it had a bad injector but it had a poor spray pattern at idle. 100 miles later it's idling fine. Actually I have right at $550 total in it right now.
$300 purchase
$94.88 muffler and rear side marker lamp
$13 spark plugs
$7 techron
$125 title registration and tags for one year
$3 for speednuts
I gave my brother back the $500 he gave me in February so that is a wash.

I like the Civic's style from the same era better, but as far as I am concerned the standard nissan GA16DE 1.6 engine which came out first in 1991 models is far superior and without the ricers messing them up. 100k plugs, no valve adjustment in over 100 k miles, and no timing belt to trash the engine.
That fact that that same body style is still produced and sold worldwide means parts are readily available and reasonably priced.
I think it was one of the last Nissan cars that was built in Japan before they built the factory in Smyrna Tennesee and it did make a difference in quality.

I'm only aware of it still being made in Mexico, but nowadays with a Renault engine for emissions-compliance instead of the older Nissan one. But the newer engine has a timing belt instead of chain...
