still no luck on a new engine. however I DID find a local source for 4' x 8' sheets of coroplast. Cost was a bit steep($25 per sheet), but its a smaller locally owned shop so I don't mind paying a little extra.

Made a stage 2 prototype gauge cover for the LCD screen/GPS out of coroplast, set the screens back further so the cover overhangs them about 2" to combat them reflecting on the windscreen during night driving.

Started on my Kamback. A sudden weather snap caught me unawares so my Cardboard supply was destroyed. Having a pretty good clue how I wanted things to work I ended up making my phase1 prototype out of Coroplast. I started with a 39" wide bit for the center piece then fastened on wing pieces at about a 12 degree angle.

after measuring about a 12 degree angle for the center piece I trimmed the wings

and started with the duct tape treatment!

Some more trimming. some more duct tape, and shes looking pretty good.

Here you can see the horrible seams and what was supposed to be gently curved edges. We will have to see how she looks after a little finessing.

The trailing edge on the wings left much to be desired. but are pretty much flat with the center piece so I can enclose the whole thing if I decide to.

As I was snapping the last pic my grandson arrived for the evening so setting up the rear-view camera and tuft testing will have to wait.

Awesome. I can not wait to get to that point on the Previa. Are you leaving it like that and painting or is this a template?

Was honestly hoping it would turn out better. Wasn't planing on the edges being so thick! Ill be trimming about an inch off the wings where they connect to the hatch and need to figure out a way to smooth the seams from the center piece to the wings. Currently this is for testing. once I am happy (e.g. getting good tuft tests) Ill probably use this as a template to make one out of a single sheet (Thus avoiding the ungodly seams).

Think I got this in the butter zone! after putting on the kamback I couldn't resist going for a midnight drive. The Kamback didn't move at all at speeds up to 60mph wind and engine noise (at a cruise) where dramatically reduced, car rolled freer at highway speeds! Unfortunately rear visibility was almost nil.

Quite a bit of rubber necking. I even had one guy get behind me and start flickering his headlights on and off. I assume he was trying to mimic headlight strobes on a police car. However he was driving an eighty something
Subaru and the local constabulary drive two thousand something Dodges so I just ignored him.

Cant wait to get the rear-view camera hooked up!

Replacing part of the coroplast with clear plexiglas or lexan would solve the rear visibility problem.

Actually put some thought to that. I ended up going with a solid Kamback as A) I already had a LCD display to use and could get a camera cheaper than I could get clear sheets of plastic ($23 on amazon). and 2) I like the looks of a solid Kamback better and it lets me make Camera mounts, Gauge clusters etc etc (read: Vanity)

If the cops want to holler about it, tell them it's like an old van with no windows but the windshield and front door ones. Perfectly legal to drive and they don't have rear view cameras.
