Congrats on making though your youth, as did I.

For reference for some of our younger readers, 115-130 mph in the older cars was so death defying because of the soft floating suspensions and things like leaf springs which could heave and sway.

I will say that of era, the extra weighty feeling and solidity of the GM products verses the offerings from Ford were different.

Ford feeling more nimble and edgy, GM feeling more solid or substantial.

I think Chrysler was somewhere in between if I recall correctly.

Ford actually used "road hugging weight" as an advertising slogan back in the 70's.

Ummm, yeah.

Aerodynamics of new Nissan GTR
Aerodynamics of Nissan GTR

Quote:
Only handful car produce front downforce in the street-car world.
The downforce usually cost unwanted aero drag!
As you see in the chart bellow, the Nissan R35 GTR has the most outstanding aero- performance among all the cars in the world.

2000 VW Beatle [sic]:226 front/284 rear? almost 3x the Audi?

In 1969 Sports Car Graphic magazine published 150 front/0 rear for the original Beeeetle.

Yea, I doubt those numbers, how can the old VW Beetle have less front end lift than a newer VW Bug?

outstanding aerodynamic performance

The authors use of adjectives should be circumscribed within a very narrow contextual envelope.
