I already have a Metro. If I were to want a dream fuel efficient car, I would have to get another one.

John Wayland posted on the EVDL a message about a dream (which I can't find now) about the ultimate Honda Insight EV conversion.

He had mapped out how you could remove all ICE components, install a Siemens AC drive with regen, a high-voltage system using Li-Ion batteries, and get a high-power lightweight efficient 200-mile range sleeper EV without drilling a single hole in the Insight's body, or, to paraphrase him, "without modifying any parts that could not easily be replaced." (He understood that the Insight is a limited run car that one day might be prized by collectors.) Throw in one of his custom Insight sound systems would make the ultimate FE 2-seater.

If it has to be a real production car, honestly, I'm not sure. It used to be the Citroen C4 Diesel-Hybrid Concept, but they dropped the idea.

I know they don't sell it in the U.S., that's for sure It would have to be the Honda Fit/Jazz or Prius for now.

I like the Acura CSX in Canada, but I'm a bit rusty on the European options.

WhatCar? Magazine is one of my favorites -- when they have the collective roundup of cars available in the UK (Top Gear Mag has a similar issue). Do you have a favorite magazine or reference?

An Aptera, of course, if it has to be something commercial. The hybrid version.

Now if we're talking about giving me a few million in R&D funds, I'd look at replacing the battery with a high-speed flywheel, and make the power unit a Stirling engine...

I'd love a Civic VX or 94-up 3-cylinder Metro hatchback. Not a dream car by any means, but every little bit helps.

I second the Aptera.
