Apparently Toyota had over stated the 19 inch version more than any other car they have produced. Usually Toyota doesn’t lie about their epa mpg |

Wayne at clean mpg did a new steady state with the 17 inch wheel Prius. Based on highway alone, the 17s had an average of 10 extra mpgs over the 19 inch wheels. So apparently tire sizes still makes a big diff on the highway and not just city driving. Obviously he said the car was in better condition for 17 inches but geez, 10-12 extra mpg just on highway cruising is a huge gain by just downsizing 2 inches

There are a lot of variables that changed between those two tests. The car, temperature, tire brand, and tire pressure. (Why did he "press up" the 17" LE tires instead of run them at factory pressure?)
No doubt running smaller and lighter tires benefits fuel economy but 10 mpg is an exaggeration.

Tire pressure and brand doesn’t matter as much at higher highway speeds. 10 degree difference only equals about 1 mpg |

I was quite surprised to know the Prius is no longer officially available in Australia. Makes me wonder if it's due to the hybrid Corolla being made in Thailand, while the Prius is made in Japan, and Thailand has an agreement to export cars to Australia excempt of import duties.

Sucks for them considering Toyota made the Corolla hybrid get WORSE mpg with its newer models. Makes no sense lol. And gas is even pricier over there
