x2 any news?? I am about to undertake the swap in my '99 civic sedan. Unfortunately I am lacking a complete wire harness, but I am figuring that out currently, which lead me to your thread. Good info! I also have the Vi-RS cluster, and I am excited to get rolling on everything. Vi-RS ftw!

Ive been looking for a p2j-003 ecu for almost a year now, ive been running an obd1 p72 eqivelent ecu with hondata s300, if you decide to go the easier route this is the way, using all three stages and fully tuneable by a tuner and yourself, i even have several basemaps, i just need the ecu mainly for emisions purpose's and for further learning of its opperation in lean burn and rpm engagements to replicate the same fuel mileage and performance in a user friendly computer setup.

customy8.

From what I hear, unless you are turboing the engine, nothing runs this engine like the stock ecu. If you are in need of one, Hmotorsonline.com has one left for ~200USD.

i am turbo 10psi on a 3 stage, 200+ hp and 40ish mpg. very fun too. The hondata s300 setup is soo wonderful, the ecu's are plentiful, no gay egr, no impossible wire harnes to buy/make, all you have to do if your car is already vtec, is just run 1 wire from the iab output to a relay under the hood, ecu grounds relay turning it on and powers the 12-16. I have all 3 stages, turbo 10psi, 550cc k-series injectors, a/c, everything works like a normal 97 ex d16y8, so when emisions comes i just pop my stock injectors back in, put the p2p ecu back in , open the wastegate, drive a day and head in for a scan check and pass.

sounds solid. Pretty go MPG considering you are turboed and not using the crazy match co processors on the stock p2j ecu.

Yes, that combination will work fine for you. You may want to upgrade your M/C if you're going to use DA brakes, though. Some don't mind the extra pedal travel. I hate it.
Don't know if this is brought up yet, but 88 is an exception.

No, 88-95 D-series axles are interchangeable. I've done it several times.

The exceptions on axles are STD/HF models and Auto tranny models. The STD/HF models have smaller outer stubs, and the Auto tranny models have smaller inner stubs. Of course, an auto HF will have smaller stubs on both sides.

The only exception to an '88 trans as opposed to a '89+ trans is the spline count on the clutch disc and input shaft. They're not interchangeable without a rebuild.
