I know that the optimum shape is dependent upon the operating speed through the air. For what speed is this template designed? 55 MPH, or the new 75 MPH?

It's not a supersonic template, from what I understand covers 0-250 mph.

In our practical application that means from 20-30 mph to as fast as your car can go (double the speed limit?).

A full-sized car will have a full-turbulent boundary layer,constant Cd,from 20-mph,up to around 250-mph,as mentioned.Above that,compressibility effects come into play.

Note he said full sized. That applies down to ~1/4 or 1/5th scale in air. So it includes velocipedes. Up to anything that will fit a traffic lane.

Has anyone built a full sized two passenger or more version of this shape, and driven it?

I was wondering that too.
IIRC there was tadpole trike built by Old Mechanic, but he left forum before it was roadworthy. When I get to some computer, i will try to provide a link.

A shape like that template was the inspiration for many early experiments in streamlined road-race cars. They got an evil reputation for tricky handling at high speed.

Still bums me out that he left the forum, upset about some political crap in the lounge subforum, IIRC. Here is the link: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post377860

I miss that guy.

I feel exactly the same. Time by time I review old threads and everytime I find some of his posts I enjoy his kind words and experience, wondering how is he, what he does.
