Copypasta the URL from the omnibar.

Right-click and copy: https://youtu.be/jN7mSXMruEo?t=416

Video makes a case for flocking flying cars.

Claiming that a truck kills people is just like claiming spoons make people fat.

It's much easier to become fat if a person eats with an oversize spoon.
Did ypu watch the entire video ?
Once you get past the clickbait title, there are some very good points.
He's not saying that no-one should drive SUVs, but rather he is pointing out how the auto industry has duped the American public into thinking that they NEED an SUV because minivans and stationwagons are for "losers", despite the station wagons and minivans having the same, if not more, interior room.
And it's all so the auto industry makes a higher profit / are able to skirt around emmissions standards than if they sold station wagons and minivans.

They left out the part where VW pickups were tariffed to death, while Toyota could send over a ship load of pickups without beds and a ship load of pickup beds, and bolt them together right at the dock.

"Thems the rules"

Although little toyota import trucks were insanely expensive compared to full size american trucks in the 90s so i think they still got hit with import fees. Hence why the t100 and all that didn't sell all that well.

It's also happening in other countries, including Brazil, yet smaller trucks and SUVs often FWD-only tend to prevail. BTW I saw a 3rd-generation Chevrolet Montana for the first time this Wednesday. Truth be told, even though it has a turbocharged engine (almost the same of the entry-level versions of the US-spec Trailblazer, but still with port-injection instead of direct injection), I would be quite skeptical if someone could tell me 10 years ago it could use such a small engine. Also surprising to me was to find out the 2nd-generation Fiat Strada, with the 1.4L Fire and 1.3L (non-turbo) GSE engines, has almost the same size of a mid-'90s Chevrolet S-10.

I listened to the "vehicles are getting too darned big" video and largely agree with his analysis.

That said, there's no limiting principle to regulation. That isn't to say there shouldn't be changes in regulation, only that arguments appealing to "save lives" need to be dispassionately evaluated.

The US overweight problem is by far the biggest contributor to morbidity and death, but that it isn't as visually striking in our imaginations as a child being creamed by a truck.

Should we be levying a tax for every pound over a healthy BMI, you know, for safety? We'd also consume less food if everyone was a "traditional" weight. That means less energy wasted farming, and less pressure to clear land for farming purposes.

I know, his passion is hatred for large vehicles, but people have the right to be fat as much as they have a right to own absurd vehicles.

... and my sister represents the fact that bad drivers feel the need to buy "safe" vehicles. She's the worst I know, and she has a 4runner for their family of 3.

A minivan is likely in my future, as I keep saying, and I'm open to that idea because I don't view vehicles as personality extenders, but as a practical tool to solve problems.
