Canadian version 082
I haven't worked on this for quite awhile, but here is the version I am using - it does have the feature you want, I think.
I don't know about the clock crystal, probably it will work fine.

Thank you very much ! I'll try it right now...
If you use a 20Mhz then to avoid any problems i will just hook up one when i am going to built the simplified mpguino board.
Thank you! Hail Canada
Also to add this version (0.82) can not be compiled with latest IDE But version (0.81) can , just to help other users

Mike,
I have a problem with both v0.81 and v0.82 (haven't checked other versions). Theoretically MPGuino should save tank data to EEPROM to restore its previous state after power outage. I was testing recently standalone (not mounted in the car) MPGuino with signals feed from the generator. Anyway after I collected some data I needed to disconect it from the power. So I've waited for MPGuino to go into the sleep mode, it should save tank data then. But after connecting the power again all data was gone. I was trying to solve the issue on my own, but I'm still learning Arduino programming and I just don't have enough knowledge to find what can be wrong.
Can you help me with this issue? Any help will be appreciated

Andrzej it seems to me that you have a problem with your eprom , i had the same problem once with a pic that was just broken...
Did you try with another pic?
- Did you try to load the erase eprom sketch?

So I've checked EEPROM in my MPGuino and it's working fine. I was able to fill it with any value I wanted from first to the very last byte. All settings are stored in EEPROM correctly pulses per mile or us per galon etc. But saving tank data to EEPROM doesn't work. After power disconnection, no matter how long I'm waiting first after the last pulse, all tank/trip data are gone. I'm trying to find why is that but it will take a while since I need to go step by step with the code.
I'm working with Arduino UNO, Atmega328-P 16MHz

Mike,
I just wanted to ask you. What you're using I2C for? I can see that you're transfering all data from MPGuino with it, but what's the client for this data?
