The few protoges I've looked at had missing suspension components, as in completely rusted away. Make sure you check out underneath, carefully.

Yeah, good point P-hack. My cousin had the same model and got rid of the car after the rear strut mount rusted and broke completely free.

Agreed - I've looked at a bunch, and get the distinct impression that rust issues on Mazdas of that vintage are atrocious.
I think we know where the guy who designed the Swift/Metro/Firefly chassis went to work afterward.
On the other hand, I also stopped looking at those cars because their mileage really isn't very good.

And check for noisy CV joints as well. I don't know if they are just poorly designed or more expensive to replace than on other older imports so people don't have them fixed, but every older FWD Mazda I have ever driven or checked out has had noisy CVs for some reason.

Looks like they might have been on this sight before! Kamm, wiper deflector, plastic over headlights, rear seat removed.

Okay, I lol'd at the description when I got to the front view. What exactly is that giant I-Beam bumper doing on a car with plastic covered headlights and wipers?

Interesting!
I'm going to question the effectiveness of that air dam:
Gets an "E" for Enthusiasm, though!
EDIT: cowmeat, ya beat me to it.

Feel free to post the link -- just replace the http and www with other characters & we'll figure it out.
Post a dedicated thread/ad in the for sale section too, if you want.
