From my market:
daihatsu charade hatchback 1990
I'd buy the Daihatsu for myself if my wife wouldn't kill me. It's like a Festiva with a Metro motor! Dave, it's as close to a Festiva as you can get, minus one cylinder! Perfect for P&G!
Lol, had to delete the CRX and the Golf. Who knew they got such crappy mpgs, being manual shift?

Neat -they never sold Diahatsu in Canada.
That CRX was probably the SI... bigger engine & revvy gearing?

Yeah it was an SI. Wouldn't matter if it was an HF, I'm pretty sure there's not an unmolested HF in the state of Florida, or I'd already own one.
Not that anybody on THIS site couldn't beat 35 mpg in the SI . . . . .

She doesn't sound pretty, but it'll get you around. Fuel economy is vastly different between the 1.9L and 1.8L, with the 1.8L being much worse.
EPA:
1.9L = 26/30/35
1.8L = 22/24/28
35 mpg Ford Escort - $750
Quote:
35 MPG daily driver. Needs at least 2 tires for winter. Broken coil spring in left rear but very drivable. Annoying exhaust leak. Previous owner damaged hood and didn't help anything with bondo. Lots of rust including palm sized holes in passenger floorboard and trunk. Comes with extra set if wheels. Good air conditioning/heat. Pioneer deck. CEL is on for fuel recirc system but passed emissions in spring. OBO

This has been for sale for a while and keeps getting cheaper. Not quite at $1500 yet but I'm guessing you could own it for that much. Too bad about the rust and the KM's, but that's a rare little truck around here. '87 is the last year they made them as a diesel for North America I believe?

You regularly haunt the online ads too? I assumed you got enough grief at the auctions!

Haha you are correct, I almost had to save a '98 Sprint 1.0L with 171k from the scrap guy at the auction last night, but thankfully someone actually bought it and drove it home. I do however search the interwebz for the elusive 1 owner late model diesel 1 ton pick up. The exchange rate was at 19.5% yesterday, so I need to make exporting hay while the sun shines!

Here is another real cheap one. Even comes with an alarm so nobody will steal your $800 car!
EPA: 24/27/33 (if its SOHC) or 22/24/28 (if its DOHC)
