I'm glad my car has ABS, airbags and seatbelts. The last two let me walk away from a car-totaling crash with a few scrapes. The first would likely have lessened the severity of the crash, or let me avoid it completely. I'm a pretty average driver, and have been mainly thankful for ABS letting the car stop instead of skid a number of times.

Now stability control and traction control may be nice to have, as long as they have an "off" switch when I want to hoon the car in a large, empty, snow-covered parking lot.

That's rather different. I doubt that seatbelts would be much use in case of a crash, but even with seatbelts in the Cherokee, I've had turbulence bang my head against the cabin roof. Unbelted, I've no doubt that I would have been all over the cabin, which would kind of distract your attention from flying the aircraft :-)

Im all about safety. The best safety device is not to get in a accident. Buy big brakes, tires and suspensions

And most of all, drive safely

Sadly they want $15k for the base model around here, as do those dealerships if its on the lot.

Strange how a smart becomes more valuable once it gets used, must be people thinking they get a good $3k trade LoL

Either that or I have to pay thousands of dollars in shipping?
