At least he had a good sense of humor about it, and hopefully still does.

I'll leave it for others to fit The Template to this. I'm more concerned with the underside nowadays. I used a combination of scrolling the bottom of the screen to low point of the front valance and a plastic ruler to find the dimensions are 5/8" rise over 14".

According to https://www.calculator.net/triangle-...s=d&x=122&y=21 the undercarriage has a rake of 2.56°. Or at least that swage line. The undercarriage appears to be half that at the rear wheel and then bells up.

Do you suspect that the front air inlet directs air like an under-tray air-curtain?

The angle of the belly pan you noticed is not contained by side curtains and we don't know how messed up it gets at the rear axle but I'm with you, it at least looks promising.

The electric motors front and back probably don't have the same issues of ICE/transmission combinations, and if they did the suspension right they could have excellent flow under there.

I found this early artwork most confusing.

The 2016 Cadillac Escala Concept has a similar "jaw" but not as cleanly done.

VW has a very satisfying design sense, in my opinion. They have distinctive, yet smooth designs; that are low drag - or at least they prioritize low drag.

Too bad they're connected to VW engineering and manufacturing.

Chassis reminds me of the 2002 "skate-board platform" that GM had hyped...then dropped: https://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/24/...2-gm-autonomy/

Chassis follows Tesla, body follows Aston Martin via Tesla. They're converging to a type.

Frank Lee — So long as they don't use these:

Speeeking of Aston Martin... The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro has an interesting diffuser:

https://www.gtplanet.net/aston-marti...xtreme-enough/

It's hard to see in the thumbnails, but the outer fences are canted and diverge on the interior. I'd call them skegs. They [conform to][confirm] my own thinking.

They are also bi-plane like F1 front wings.

However those giant rear wheels and the turbulent drag they create are going to stay.

Could these oversized, overly divergent rear diffusers be taming the air both sides of the fences?

That is to say, yes the higher pressure lower speed of the air exiting from underneath the car because of divergence is one aspect, but there is also something happening off to the outside and behind the rear wheels.

Just a random CFD image above to illustrate that rear turbulence.

I'm always referring to this picture from Bonneville. I should have taken more. The fence is vertical and wraps out from the inner face of the tire to the outer face. If the tips were flaired out it would match Aston Martin's design.
