Easier, and more likely to result in actually getting on the road. Choice!

I checked the Pa and NY laws. It seems up to 25 mph and an automatic transmission is legal for a bike motor in Pa. I asked around here with the local police and they seem to ignore anything less than 20 mph. Just don't make a lot of smoke or noise and don't hit anybody.

This forum is called ECOmodder, and 2 stroke engines pollute many orders of magnitude more than 4 stroke engines.

If you can't go straight electric, go with something like a subaru-robin, low emissions and a lot less hassle.
Small Engine Warehouse: EH025-0208 -

Also, for anyone who will point to the low price of the 2-stroke kit:
"the sting of low quality lasts long after the the sweetness of low price fades away". And a screwed up planet is a pretty big sting for me.

Noise emissions are also emissions, and most of those 2-strokers make me want to tackle the operator off the machine, pick it up overhead, and smash it to smithereens, perhaps over the operator's head if he's a repeat offender.

You mention modding an electronics as though anybody could do it in his sleep, but imply that it takes some kind of special mechanical skill to maintain a 2 stroke engine . Just strikes me odd, since in my book 2 strokes are much less intimidating and mystifying than electronics. All in your background, I guess.

By the way, I`m not necessarilly a fan of 2 strokers, just thought I`d point out that electric vehicles aren`t exactly the definition of simplicity for many folks, myself included.

"And to make it accelerate faster you get a controller with a higher current rating or modify the shunt on the existing one":

And you think two stroke engines need somebody with "exremely mechanical" inclinations to keep them running? Sheesh- they might be dirty and noisy, but complicated they aren`t!

I had a 2 stroke street bike back in the 80's. Very fast, it was a Yamaha Daytona Special. Needed new pistons every 2500 miles according to the owners manual!

Thing smoked and was extremely loud.

I thought Al Gore was going to outlaw 2 strokes... I really see no need for 2 strokes anymore since the technology for 4 strokes has improved so much in the small engine department.
