I got in some much needed testing/tuning yesterday. I drained all of the E10 out of my B210 at home and splashed 2.5 gallons of ethanol free 93 premium in it. This was more than enough to get out to Fairway Gas and Oil in Fonda [58 miles away]. I then filled up with av-gas, jacked up the ignition timing, and installed the short belt to eliminate the alternator. This was the main reason for the drive, to see if I could make the 100 or so miles on the deep cycle battery. The answer is yes. No problem at all. I tested the battery surface voltage at the Fairway station before I left and it was 12.7 volts. I stopped at the half way point of the run and it was 12.4 volts. It was getting dark when I pulled into Mobil and the battery was still at 12.2 volts. I probably could have driven it all the way home [another 58 miles] but as headlights were now needed I decided to reconnect the alternator to drive it home with bright lights instead of dim ones.

I also reinstalled my Innovate LM1 wide band setup beofe this trip to see if I could lean the carb a bit more with the new plugs. It's a good thing I did. The engine was running richer in testerday's hot 85 degree air [as opposed to the October air I jetted for last year]. I had the air/fuel ratio set for 14.7 to 1 - 15 to 1 back then, but yesterday it was 13.8 to 1 - 14.4 to 1. You fuel injected guys don't have to worry about stuff like this as your ecu adjusts your mixture constantly, but us carby guys have to keep checking and adjusting as the seasons change to stay spot on.

All I can say is that it's a good thing I didn't wait until the last minute to get ready.

Here's a pic I took while stopping off in Wells at the state boat launch ramp.

I know I've decided, and I'm willing to carpool with 3 normal sized humans and 1 small human in sitting position. I also have a greasy trunk available for those inclined.

I intend to go to the "Moon & River Cafe" on 115 S. Ferry St. in Schenectady NY. It may be wise to get reservations if we have a sizable group. If an appropriate number of people show interest, I'm willing to make the reservation; otherwise I'll just play it by ear and go when everyone convenes and agrees it's food time. I think it maybe best to convene at the hotel. If anyone has some floor for me, I'm happy as can be sleeping on it, but if this is not possible I know someone in Schenectady I can stay with.

Here is the menu again:

You can stay with darin and matt herring and I. Pick a good time for dinner, not too early since people are coming in, and darin and I will come, and hopefully some other kind folks.
