MPGuino release one workspace

Holding 55 on my trip out a few minutes ago, it was going from 53 on up to 70. Sometimes it would hold for a few seconds around 55, then jump around. The distance is fairly close (although could be closer)...but that's a calibration thing I'll work out over the next couple of tanks.

can you try replacing instantmph() with instant.mph() on the doCustomDisplay line and see if that works any better?

Also are you using 8208 for vsspulses per mile?

I'll probably need you to scope/record your vss to help you much more than that.

I am using 8204 for my pulses/mile. On my trip back from Savannah today, it was very jumpy for a few miles (reading generally higher than speedometer reading). After that, it was almost dead on and never varied more than half a m.p.h. off of the speedometer reading. I'm starting to think loose wire, or the connection I made to the car doesn't like the rougher ride my car gives it. I'll give it a little longer and compare the numbers. The distance is almost right on according the odometer, so it's getting all the pulses, I believe.

My mpguino was borking out under 100+ interior heat (I have glass t-tops)

I moved all the arduino brains to the glove box and just rounted a 25 pin serial cable to my mini lcd and button box. That way I can use the freeduino for other projects just by unplugging the mpguino.

the mpguino does well now so far in heat, just the arduino didn't

I looked up the parts I need at the Radio Shack site and need a little guidance. Should I get the 1/4 watt or 1/2 watt 100k resistors? Also, the only tactile switched they show are single pole/single throw, 12vdc, 50ma 5mm high. Is that right ? They want $3.99 each. Is that good, or should I look for another source. Seems strange to pay $12 for 3 switches when the whole board kit can be had for $24.

Mine has been installed since Saturday and has survived that many hot days. How long before yours started acting up? I assume I would have know something by now. I do keep a piece of paper on top of the unit to keep it out of direct sunlight. I doubt that helps much; it's more of a mental thing, lol.

I'm using 1/4 W resistors. I got normally open SPST switches. I can't remember how much they were off the top of my head. For my perfboard, transistors, switches, quick disconnects, etc...it was a little over $20 or so. I made out with the whole project for around $60-70 for everything. Granted, I had a soldering iron and some solder left, but that shouldn't be too big a deal.

I used 1/8 watt resistors for my first guino (for my Celebrity), I read somewhere in this thread that 1/8 watt would be fine. So anything bigger would be fine too. I used 1/4 watt for the new guino (for my van) because thats what Radioshack had.

Those Radioshack tactile switches are $3.99 for a pack of 4. Thats what I used for my first guino about a month ago. Also from Radioshack, the zener diodes needed come in a pack of 2. And the transistor needed comes in a pack of 15.

For a cheap source, Ive used Futurlec. Only thing is the parts come from the other side of the world so it takes a couple weeks, but the prices are dirt cheap and shipping was $4 no matter what, and I never had any problems with their parts.
