Just before Christmas we finished the engine rebuild. It was SUPER fast!! It took us probably a total of 14 hours, and most of that time was spent cleaning!
I decided to go with a different block, mostly because I needed to make the down time as short as possible for the guy helping me. He found me a nice D15B2 engine on Craigslist, which is one of the most similar engines to the original D15B6 HF engine. The D15B7 being the closest match. I know that means my mileage will go down some, but I still have the B6 engine to rebuild later.
We bought many new parts for the rebuild, either OEM, or as good as OEM parts. We used all of my HF parts around the engine.
New clutch too, as mine was pretty worn out.
Because the build was so fast, I don't have many pictures. Here's what I do have.
All finished.
The break in has been going well. I will need to do an oil change soon. At 300 miles I started noticing a noticeable difference in available power. This engine has more horse power for sure.
Between the new engine and clutch, my CRX is crazy fun to drive now.
I'm anxious to find out the mileage, but I haven't been driving it in the snow. So I'll have to be patient.
