Tesla, Fiat-C, Ford, and GM may produce ventilators instead of vehicles

Musk said that ventilators are complicated, but they already make HVAC and life support systems for the space station:
NYC mayor tests Elon Musk’s offer to make ventilators during the coronavirus crisis

Another Senator sold around $2,000,000 worth of stock after that meeting. "It’s illegal for members of Congress to trade on non-public information gleaned through their official duties: Kelly Loeffler Dumped Millions in Stock After Coronavirus Briefing

Don't. Just wash your hands with soap and water.

For cleaning objects 70-90% isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle works well. I've been cleaning my airplane seat with ISO for about 3 years. Today when I get on the plane I won't look like a crazy person.

Here's an interesting study on the projected spread of the virus, fatalities, and hospital bed utilization given different control techniques. The takeaway is that all mitigation strategies are projected to overrun hospital beds in the US and GB.

An interesting concept is that it would actually be beneficial to increase the initial number of infections up to the point of the hospital capacity, and then apply control measures that just keep the rate of infected within the healthcare infrastructure's ability to treat. Of course, predicting and finely controlling rates of infection seems about as likely as predicting the stock market.

Fake cures aren't illegal, so they'll lose the suit. At my company "wellness" days, they'd have vendors selling healing crystals, copper bracelets, magnets, aromatherapy....

Besides all that, basically every placebo has positive effect, so all the guy would have to do is produce a study that shows people are better off with his cure, which they will be.

Whether or not fake cures are legal or not depends on how the claim is worded. It is illegal to say your potion cures a specific disease without documented proof. It is perfectly legal to make general claims.

Airborne is an excellent example. They paid out $23 million for the false claim that their combination of Vitamin A, C, and E prevented the common cold. Now they claim that it "boosts your immune system" which is perfectly legal without proof.

I did the same thing as the senators just with much smaller amounts. The gold prices were high, he stock market was overbought, then a 1, 2 punch came along the stupid virus and an oil crash.

I guess not.
I have thousands of dollars that are tax free as I contributed them during my years spent deployed to war zones.
My step dad who was got out of the navy/usmc in 1991 remembers it.
The tsp has 2 bond funds the G fund is like saving bonds super safe doesn't earn squat and won't losee value , the F fund is mortgage and credit backed securities and bonds.
In a bad year F fund makes 0% to -1%.
The government doesn't match contributions so all that money belongs to you.

They're testing quinidine as a possible treatment. You know what has quinine tonic, wild turkey has tonic water in it and 101 turkey is 50% alcohol.
It may be the cure.

You executed trades (and told your donors to do so) based on classified information? Nice work if you can get it, I suppose.

Wild Turkey, the first legal drink I ever had (and only drink I had on my 21st). Who knew I was inoculating myself early :P Still my go-to if I'm going to buy an overpriced airline drink since it's the same price as everything else, with a bit more punch.

I didn't need classified info to know the stock market was going to drive off a cliff.
As soon as I heard "new virus in China" on CNN (classified news network) I sold my stocks, because TSP is slow to make changes and my work 401k I sold that day that the dow took its first 700 point dump.
