Also, I have a 1998 DX and have long been interested in this, but I have too few skills, and Hondata makes it too difficult. If you do any work with the more common ECUs that were in the 6th gen LX and DX Civics, and I could swap plug-n-play, I'd be a potential customer too. (And your potential market would grow, since there were so many more of these trim Civics sold.)

I keep asking are you guys running Crome hondata dameon Neptune? Not that it matters and would the ecu come with a zif socket (zero insertion force)? Have the programs been tuned on a dyno or datalogged on street?

Give them a chance to figure this out. They have said their primary mission is to sell swapped cars and are doing this ecu chipping/tuning work more as a community service since it is in a related field to what they are doing. Last I checked they were testing different ECU's and program combinations. Wait for them to have final results so they can give you a specific answer on ecu/hardware/software specifics.

ECU kits are OBD1 and come with jumper harness and are tuned with over 40 hours of driving datalog and tuning. they are plug and play

The tuner is done with the HX
his results were 58MPG at 65-70 with cruise control set
again no hyper-miler techniques were used
this is a totally factory car.

i was just going to post about this and see how it was going. is that with an ob1 ecu? does it require all the hx parts or can it be used in different models (lx,ex,cx) that use a 4 wire o2? if so would it be a plug and play with factory ob1 cars as well? does it use a vtec system for lean burn?

sorry for all the questions but im intrigued and eager to see how versatile the tuned ecu is.

They are using a obd1 p28 or a exu converted to be a p28 then it is chipped to run a base map similar to the p07 but with 02 and probably egr delete. The lean burn is reverse vtec. You would need a lean burn motor. Any Honda from 92-00 can be run off of a chipped ecu and tuned for what ever you need. If you had a cx or dx (no vtec) then you could chip a p06 it doesnt have vetc controls. They can be added if nessissary. you could chip and tune your ecu to run leaner just not quite as lean as the vx hx. The ideal setup is hondata s300 on the fly tuning with real time monitoring and tuning. Truely custom but $$$. Pm me.

Yea I was kinda figuring a p28 could be used and just engage vtec at a much lower rpm. But the 02 and egr delete would be awesome. You could drop a d15z1 or jdm vtec-e in like an ex or si and not have to do any wiring. Im gona call him tomorrow

This ECU is not a p07 Basemap It is a fully custom basemap
Vtec is not engaged to engage lean burn
just trying to clear up the information that is not correct


here is the TRUTH
ECU's for both VX and HX civic

lean burn in 3rd 4th and all of 5th
more aggressive vtec crossover for power in the top range
no O2 sensors at all are needed
safe A/F ratio's and no "on the fly" tunning is needed
