EVTV have a formula for energy usage [citation needed] that involves vehicle weight times two other factors. The chart uses Cx, not Cd or CdA. That could be power required per square foot of frontal area but probably not.

A Volkhart Sagitta V-2 had 25hp (gas) and would do 90mph with a sub-0.20 Cd but it was (very) small.

Diyelectric uses a rule of thumb that kinda goes: weight in pounds divided by ten roughly equals power required to move car in average watt hours.

Thanks for your contributions Freebeard and Piotrsko. So I see that my calculation seems to give something between the two examples that you gave As you know, the motor consumption will be very variable depending on the instantaneous speed of the car. In my case, the usage that I have in mind would be a car running less than 100 miles per day, with a average speed of 15 to 20 MPH. My idea is that, thanks to this low speed, I should not have an heavy consumption (confer the calculation I put in my previous post), and also I hope to be able to drive 100 miles with no more than 15 KWH... But I don't know if this goal can really be reached...

Anyway, what about the plans and schematics of the Paul&Sabrina's AC Controler ? Do you know where I could find out these ressources ?

Your calculation is correct. I can provide real life fact also. My 28kW motor is able to get my 1200Kg Mazda MX3 to 180km/h speed.

That can be because the motor rating is actually continuous 1h rating. Motor can drain 80kW if i push it hard. I am not sure how much of that goes to the wheels, but it is enough my car is quite nimble.

Highway hill climb requires some 35kW to 45kW power at 110km/h.... depends on the grade.

Hello arber333,

Thank you for your contribution, it interests me a lot to know these results based on a concrete case. I note these results, they are useful for me to evaluate the pertinence of my table of values. I will also try to improve this table to better take into account other parameters. It seems to me that my current calculations are a little too approximate

Did you realize the transformation of your car yourself?

Hello! We had everything we owned stolen back in April, but I am gradually trying to get stuff again. I would say in a month or 2. Here's some info about it:

*MAN* that *SUX*

Will send some cash tonight

Is there anything .. that can be replaced ... that you can't replace locally?

Were your backups recent for code, board schematics, etc? My last copy was quite a while ago

Did you lose any banking info/passwords/etc with the laptop?

Fortunately I had the laptop in our other car. I have been buying some motors, and leaf/volt controllers. Someone in Canada did a 3d model of a coupling for the 2 leaf motors and then I got the part that holds the 2 motors together rigidly, and he's still working on the part that will hold the shafts together, then I can test them at full load. I'll be teaching middle school starting in August, since it will be a little while before I can sell the boards again.

Oh yes, we lost all of our banking information and passwords. I had just gotten a $1300 ARM programmer with the trace feature just a few days before moving. Yep, they took that too. haha not annoying at all. I just thought it was towed the next morning. Then I saw broken glass where the driver side window was, and just thought, um... well, sometimes there's just broken glass in parking lots. ya, i'm sure everything is fine. lol

I'm happy to see you are back "in the game"!!
Looking forward to getting back to work on the controller whenever you are ready, though I might just have to get a Leaf motor (instead of the AC51 I have now) since everyone is moving in that direction anyway.
