It hasn't been much of a problem in some restorations back here.

Easier to do a 'glass or stainless tub for the battery. I went fiberglass boat battery holder and killed two issues with the same stone.

As most modern batteries are much less likely to spill acid, most likely it would seem somewhat overkill. But anyway, better safe than sorry...

I miss Mac OS's Summarize Text. I scanned it but no suggestion of any benefit jumped out.

The channeling system design was based on a deflector with a curvature that allows the internally circulating airflow to maintain, as much as possible, uniformity of projection to avoid turbulence.

I take this as meaning there is no converging or diverging of the duct cross section. So due to skin friction and interference drag, the exiting air will be slower than the entering air. How this produces that jet of air in Figure 8(b) is not apparent.

I wonder if they tested this in off-axis crosswinds?

I have no idea atm freebeard; I have not read the study, which looks to be a 4th year thesis or some-such.
So atm it's an interesting? study/concept, maybe worth a 2nd look as and when time allows.

I still think keeping flow attached with DBD or fake feathers to minimize backflow/recirculation is likely the better option.

I do like the 'roof's in the shade' aspect, but as its closed on the sides it's only really going to help interior temperatures at (some) speed or when the breeze happens to be blowing in the right direction/s.
