Where gravel roads are common, boat trailers often have a large, bow-shaped stone guard. Another common sight is an empty equipment trailer with it's loading ramps carried vertically. We also get some highway tractors with massive moose guards churning the air. Pics available.

Thanks, I've never seen gravel shields before.
They exist. DDG/?q=airstream+gravel+guard&iax=images

I can't find a picture but here's an ad for rubber/vinyl adhesive gravel guard: https://www.wholesaletrailersupplies...x&cPath=475_98

No one has mentioned the stainless steel propane tank cover?

Here's an ad for a gravel guard for the window: https://www.odmrv.com/catalog/index....roducts_id=191

Odd to have an SUV called Mustang, odder yet to be all electric (300 mile range) with rear wheel and 4-wheel drive modes.

It looks pretty aerodynamic to me, have not looked up it's Cd yet.

Go to the 40 minute mark if you want to skip the history lesson and just see the vehicle unveiled.

Mustang Mach-E World Debut

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...ature=emb_logo

46:30 mark Bill says 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, faster than a Ferrari Portofino.

They could have called it the Maquis in lieu of Mach-E.

Kármán vortex street

Drag of a Sphere
https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/ai...ragsphere.html
Quote:
Case 3 shows the flow as velocity is increased. The downstream vortices become unstable, separate from the body and are alternately shed downstream. The wake is very wide and generates a large amount of drag. The alternate shedding is called the Karman vortex street. Here is a computer animation of the shedding, with the flow going from right to left.

This type of flow is periodic, it is unsteady but repeats itself at some time interval. The pressure variation associated with the velocity changes produces a sound called an aeolian tone. This is the sound you hear when the wind blows over high-power wires or past tree limbs in the fall or winter. It is a low frequency (low pitch), haunting tone.

The Audi White Noise Concept Is an Electric Vehicle With a Snarl
https://hypebeast.com/2016/4/audi-white-noise-concept

Quote:

We’re all for environmentally-conscious design, but who doesn’t prefer the distinct vroom of a gasoline-powered vehicle over the dull hum of an electric engine? Frederic Allenberg is looking to offer the best of both worlds with his Audi concept. Dubbed the White Noise, the sleek, minimalist production doesn’t employ the artificial audio of other designs. Instead, there’s a reason for the vehicle futuristic, sculptural form. Thanks to its aerodynamic shape and chassis fins, the White Noise takes cues from the Aerolian Harp and is able to take advantage of fluid dynamics and the Kármán vortex street to funnel air between cables that are attached to the lower body of the car. The result? A natural tone that has more in common with the R8 than a Prius.

Though just in concept form for now, the technology could be employed by and tailored to any vehicle as the sound can be modified at will by changing the number of cables, their length or tension.

Back in my misspent youth I wanted to have, at the summit of my domicile, an aerolian harp that had trumpet bells, like the ventilators on an old ship, pointed in the appropriate direction for approaching storms (i.e., out of the NE).

I was learning about fluidics at the time. Use air pressure to raise the shutters.

Title says it all:

Just A Car Guy: The McKeen Motor Cars were the first example of an all steel, self propelled train car design in the world. They were also the first known use of purposeful aerodynamic design in North America, and the first successful use of a motive

....power other than electric or steam, and in being so, they were the lead into the Diesel/Internal Combustion engine era.

My defense is that this is more aerodynamic than a stock 1947 Buick, Dale Turner's "Superliner".

I just like the interior.
