yep she had it for one morning to run errands while I changed the pads on her car and what was going to be another solid 50+ Nose dived!

Thinking about ditching the grille block too, after theree tanks it doesn't seem to be having any noticeable effect

It might have some effect if you take it out now.
Temps are getting a lot lower than they were, and my FE is taking a hit during the longer warm-up period.

A few years ago a survey came out about which section of society was worst for driving. Everyone expected young men just past their test to be the worst crims but it turned out to be young ladies instead.

And they never grow out of it.

A year ago I when I was still racing everywhere I beat my time to a certain other Scottish place only to be told I was still 5 mins slower than the Mrs. She has warned me she is driving their again next week, so I have to check tyres, brakes and suspension....

PS - I still haven't got mine on yet, no difference ? I'm considering an extra 5 PSI in my tyres as that made a difference.

EDIT: By 'mine' I mean grill block...

I have 'tuned' my SG to be quite close to my tank (last one was 52 MPG IMP vs 54 in the SG which is getting to be an average - I need to update my fuel log sometime) so I think I'm ready to start experimenting. Only been a year mind, but I just had to have my galvanised car de-rusted before winter.

I love Skoda.

And there is not a hint of rust on my 14yr old Dub!!

Just had a big fuel issue - a while back i had a leak from the injector spill-offs well the replacement 'get you home' ones that the RAC put on were so good i kinda forgot about them until this week when one rubbed through on the edge of the injector. this filled the car with the lovely whiff of Shell's fuelsave Diesel, pipe changed the car still stank and hand become lumpy and lacking in torque. Problem? the one pipe the RAC guy didn't change was the spill-off return from inj4 back to the pump. TBH it looked and felt old, it felt to bits as I removed it as it had a big hole in it and was dripping fuel into a nice dark part of the engine I hadn't noticed before. All this meant my FE dropped from 59uk to 58uk :O

need to buy some fresh pipe - fleebay here I come!

Annoying but I'm impressed you could spot a 1 MPG change

I'm going to have to get my engine mount bushes (cup bushes ?) changed again. I was swayed into having the uprated Cupra ones fitted as it tightens the steering up but the vibration in the cabin at under 1500 is getting to be annoying and I would like to use under 1.5K if I can.

Its more the feel through the revs and the smell that i noticed - luckily I sorted it quickly and filled up so i didn't loose much over the tank.

Quick update,
Grille Block added - but then removed, the temps came up nice and quickly during the recent cold snap but I'd completely blocked the lower grill which seems to be the primary intake for the rad. because the temp kept on rising.

Going to look into a complete top grille block and maybe a better aftermarket airfilter. these paper element one barely seem to last 5k before they're choked with Road grime.

Just had a shocker of a tank @43us (ish) because I felt the car running to during a photo shoot i was on and I got stuck in a 3.5hr traffic jamin subzero temps :S

Current tank which has been to Silverstone and back, is looking promising but its highlighted how much CHUG needs a bit of a service and some attention..... and maybe a wash!

Yes the paper element filters can plug up quickly but it shows they are doing their job. If you do the research you'll find these oiled gauze aftermarket filters don't filter as well. Neither will the foam rubber ones.

Personally I would rather change my filter every 5K than have fine grit get through and wear down my rinds and cylinder walls. Compression is essential for diesel efficiency.

Consider relocating your intake.
