Rudyard pointed out how a bad system has a fatal flaw baked into it, and I'll give the generic distillation here of his specific comment at about the 26min mark. A system based on a caste hierarchy (all social/political systems are a hierarchy) of immutable characteristics grants the elites free reign to act poorly without consequence, and the disenfranchised no reason to participate whatsoever. The tyrants will push tyranny without a limiting function, and the growing numbers of permanently lower status caste members will sabotage the system that offers no path of dignity and prosperity.
