On his recommendation I'm listening to Marc Andreessen on Bari Weiss.

I consider Bari the gold standard in podcast hosting, despite having a fraction of the audience of Joe.
As a tangent, I want Dave Rubin to go back to hosting rather than content creating, as he is way better at the former than the latter. I'd also like Peterson to go back to lecturing instead of hosting, though he's also very good in a group of experts setting. For some reason, a small group of people tends to limit his too frequent interruptions, which happens when he's one-on-one and leading the discussion.

This would be off topic in the Cliemate thread, so here:
First off -- the set! Trivial in Blender but nontrivial in real life.
Fascinating to listen to, he can make word salad make sense. I'm 1/4 of the way through at the moment but I need to be doing other things.
He and I share an 'orgin story'; in high school they wouldn't even tell me my Intelligence Quotent, to keep my humble, they said. So I went from a farmland high school into a leftist University. But I stuck it out and wound up (in two senses) a voice in the wilderness and he formulated his CTMU.
One thing that jumps out is Self-Simulation. And his connection of state and process reminds me of Authur M. Young's The Geometry of Meaning.

I'll give it a listen later, as this probably requires more attention than a SA episode.
I was a TAG (talented and gifted) student from 1st grade, but I don't recall that changing my formal educational trajectory other than my parents being told that I'm likely to be bored at school, which is correct. Always had the "opportunity" for AP classes, but why would I choose more homework when high school achievements don't matter in the labor economy?
Never took the SAT or other formal predictors of IQ, but informal tests have me around 134, which means I'm underperforming that highest predictor of success.

Episode 2690 -- ?t=434
Quote:
7:15 meanwhile in Japan they've developed a drug that can regrow human
7:21 teeth like in your body so you you take a shot and your
7:28 adult teeth grow back in if they're not there I guess but what if you already
7:33 have adult teeth does it does the new stuff push the old teeth out I have
7:39 questions how how could your body know when to grow a tooth and when not to wouldn't it grow teeth everywhere and
7:46 then just push your old ones out like baby teeth get pushed out well I don't know that but apparently it's a real
7:53 thing it's already developed and it's already tested and they showed a reporter a reporter who was looking at
8:00 her own teeth and was like oh my God there's two new teeth just started growing I don't know I'm not I'm not
8:06 sure I totally believe that now the the purpose is for people with lost teeth the purpose is not for somebody who has
8:13 already a full a full mouth of good teeth
8:19 anyway I guess all it does is block a protein and that's all it needed to do that's all it needed to do it was easy

Truly a Golden Age. I read about growing new [individual] teeth twenty years ago, but the process was really invasive. Ten years ago the whole set.
Big Dentistry will need to embrace and extend...
edit: the first day on the job story was pretty good.
2nd edit: ...and it's only ?t=2232. He doesn't recognize that the UFOs over Eugene, OR are different to the Coast County phenomena. Those are hypersonic red discs.

Once again. a California resident focuses on the drone [midget] pilot training on the East coast, and ignores the hypersonic red disks one state North.
His suggestions at the end are pretty good. That deskpad is just a big mousepad. He likes the acoustic and thermal properties. I like that things won't roll of onto the floor.

Before the $1K 13" graphics tablet. I'd try the $60 7" Raspberry Pi touch screen.

I've been bored of recent episodes mostly due to drone talk. I'd have a hard time talking for 90 minutes every morning if I didn't repeat a bunch of stuff and have the "news" feed me the topics to discuss, so I'm being critical while respecting that entertaining people on a daily basis is nearly impossible.
The drone subject reminds me of China Balloons; which I consider to be a waste of my storage capacity and limited amount of 'concern' bandwidth.
Most of my criticisms on most things are with regard to how uninteresting something is, or wasting limited amount of awareness on something unimportant.

The thread outlasts our interest in the subject, so you get posts like #756
In other news, I'm seeing a correspondence between the Plato's Divided line and David Bohm's quantum physics. The one has an intelligible and visible realm arrayed vertically, and the Explicate and Implicate Orders are displayed on a vertical line representing scale.
Maybe the interesting thing about drones is the way the stories out of China are so differentL Thousands of Drones Simultaneously Crash in China; Large Drone Strikes Olympic Center, Then Explodes

Wish we had drone shows to show for the trillions of dollars in spending we don't have.
I've only ever purchased Chinese drones. My best one is a DJI. I had some motivation to build a tri-copter, probably using mostly Chinese components.
Nobody has given me a good answer as to why multirotor drones are more common than helicopter drones. If I had to guess, it's that swash plates are a mechanical maintenance item that increases cost.
