Trying to give my Ecoboost Fiesta longer legs

My car(14 fiesta 1.0 3cyl turbo) is already pretty thrifty, but I'm really interested in the potential. One of the guys in the Fiesta Faction forum is experimenting with deboosting when not a lot of power is demanded; we will see how that works. Using a button on the dash, to energize a solenoid to open the waste gate.
Anyway, I look forward to implementing a few mods I have seen here. My main path forward is to improve aerodynamics, but not to alter the look too much.
Great to have all this knowledge at my finger tips!

Does the turbo create much boost while on light throttle cruising? Should only be "boosting" under acceleration for the most part, but running 5psi on a flat highway could increase consumption unless the 1.0 is so weak that it can't sustain 65mph without the turbo's help.

My Scangauge does not show boost, but some of the other guys are using a bluetooth app on their phones and say, that the cars are under boost to some degree most all the time.
The guy doing the experimentation says it is drivable in traffic without boost; just pretty slow. We have also discussed the main drawback of unboosting, besides lack of go; inefficient intake and exhaust, when running NA. Like I said, we will see what his testing shows.

Remember the days of the diesel Chevette? I do. It was considered slow when everything else, by modern standards, was pretty slow. If you're as slow as a diesel Chevette, I'll call that slow. If you can get up to 60 in under 20 seconds - which I pretty much never do in any case - I'll call it acceptable.

Subbed. I'm pretty interested in hearing about a selectable boost Ecoboost.

Your scangauge may not show boost but it can tell you what's happening with MAP - manifold pressure. Check it when the engine is off to find what ambient pressure is. 14.5 psi or so is what I see. In a Normally Aspirated car like mine, that ambient pressure is the highest you can get at wide open throttle. If your turbo is boosting, you'll see pressure above ambient on this gauge. 7 psi boost = 21.x psi MAP.

I was thinking along those lines; I will check it out. Scangauge does not provide the (can't remember the terms scangauge uses for setting different parameters other than how it comes from the company) setting params for the 14 fiesta boost readout.

xgauge. Actually, that one's pretty simple. All you have to do is subtract a constant ambient from MAP. I've never programmed mine but I understand a simple bit of math like that is easy.

So your saying, just subtract the 14.5 in an Xgauge and turn the MAP into a boost gauge?

In my scangauge setting I can switch it from reading MAP or PSI (boost). Does the Fiesta not transmit the data in the same way? Or I might be talking out my a$$ since I've never driven a forced induction car...

Harbor freight has cheap boost/vac gauges which is a good instrument for eco-driving in general and would be worth the money and time spent...
