Yeah, every time an hybrid passes me on the highway, I'm like, he's probably doing 30-40 less MPG than me.

There are good examples from either vehicle with 60+mpg
I'm miffed that the comment was made that this car might actually beat a pruis, when a stock tdi can achieve similar results as a prius... If a dedicated hypermiler can get in the 60s with a Prius or a Jetta TDI, imagine what this vehicle in this thread could accomplish... That's more my point.

It has POTENTIAL for good FE.
On the other hand, it might have a 5 liter turbo engine and a short-geared transmission.

Hybrids pass me all of the time and I sigh because I am working so much harder to get so much worse mileage!
A little better and I will make the 32 MPG that the 2,013 Forester is rated, although I wonder how many actually achieve that.

I feel your pain.
My GF just got a 2012 Civic EX sedan AT and she is getting 39mpg on an average tank. I did contribute to that by doing a bit of passenger seat coaching which has gotten her to slow from 70mph to 60mph and switch to neutral when she can, still cant get her to turn the car off at lights... My best tank EVER is 41.7mpg and she hardly does anything to get consistant 39's. I keep wondering how much I could get in her car an it isn't even a hybrid.

I think it's safe to say it's not a dragster or a Sunfire.
