The Reflex (TLR200) was imported to the USA in 1986 and 1987. The motor is essentially an XR200 in a trials like platform. The frame is really too small and the seat too uncomfortable for anything but short rides. As for lusting for the Transalp, you'll have to stand in line!! Yesterday, a stranger ran out into the road waving his arms frantically. He said he had never seen a TA before and wanted to buy it!!

Nice TL, I used to ride a TL250 around quite often and have seen the TL200's only in photo's. When a lot of the three wheelers got their tags taken away back in the early 90's we had the license taken away from our TL. Older trials bikes also make great trail bikes for shorter people or for people that don't like to sit down. The only major issue we had with ours is the small gas tank (XR tank can fit with modifications) and the lack of parts availability, it is sitting not driving currently due to the oddly designed rear sprocket that we couldn't replace cheaply.

I see them around here quite often. A colleague of mine has one too, and he described it as a fuel hog. He mentioned things like 6l/100km (<40mpgUS)

It is real or he's just flogging it, I wonder...

I have no experience with the Euro Transalp 650 as they are not imported into the USA. Even at high speeds, the worst I have ever gotten is 53 MPG. Of course one of the problems with fuel injection is adjustability...unless somebody makes a chip, you are stuck with factory settings.

It was the style for Japanese trials bikes to have those dished rear sprockets. If I recall, there is a company called Sprocket Specialists out of California that makes a spacer so that you can run a traditional XL250 rear sprocket pattern on your TL250. That bike is too cool to leave in the barn!!

I think I had found them one day, didn't have a need for the bike at the time but I will probably get it out the next time I have a chance and clean it up a bit, gotta see if I can find some replacement Preston Petty fenders for it one of these days too, the ones on it are in pretty bad shape

Almost the exact opposite of what I often do: I try not to be easy on the throttle (but avoid braking as much as I can), while I'm travelling slow
