I agree for the Car, 6 fits it to a T.

The Van I feel I need the extra gears so I can maintain the best speeds under all cases.

Od gearing Consumers power as it is the nature of the Beast. The largest percentage of actual flywheel horsepower gets through the transmission at 1: 1.
I'm considering a over-geared rear end and running my aftermarket overdrive box as an underdrive for Bonneville and at the top end going 1 to 1 through the add-on gearbox to reduce the power consumption of the gearing giving me more power available at the top end we're more power is needed due to the added air resistance. However this will require rear gearing close to 1.5 : 1 ,or higher, hence a Quick Change Rearend

Ecky what's the name of the program/link you use for your graph. I've been looking for something like that.

Seems like at least with ford everything they sell they tout the acceleration and fun factor of the vehicle over FE. lol
*see useless ST variant of suv/cuv.

Althought a 2019 Ford Ranger with the 300lb-ft off idle 2.3 four cylinder would be a good truck to do a swap on. Literally a 10 speed transmission and the FD ratio is still only 0.64. If thats the case im taking off the 3.73s and 30" all terrains and putting on LRR tires and 2.73s! Surely the truck could get 30s on the highway at that point.

I would go lower to 2:47 of if you can find them then 2:26.

Its common Ford gears. Typically the lowest you will fine are 2.73, 3.08, 3.15, 3.31, 3.45, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10.

That is a fact, they are rare, but at one time for some cars or trucks they DID make them.

Here is the data I am working from:

Ring gear measures 8.8".
28 Spline axle shafts with a 1.29" diameter
31 Spline axle shafts with a 1.32" diameter
Ratios: 2.26, 2.47, 2.73, 3.08, 3.27, 3.31, 3.45, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10 & 4.56, 5.14

This is from here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_8.8_axle

I think richmond gear has a 2.29 or a 2.50 but im not sure how interchangeable 8.8 internal stuff is.

Their web site sucks. Maybe I am wrong.
