It's definitely enough to carry groceries, which is about the most that many fat @$$ pick-up trucks haul.

Sadly, I'm afraid you are right....most people do not use their trucks to carry any more than their car. I am glad I am not one of them. I load my truck with firewood, bricks, lumber, etc... to the order of 3,000-6,000 lbs. That is why I have my truck....to use it. Some people just want the biggest thing they can drive down the road. Another sad fact i that most trucks now are automatics.....

Pickups used to be utilitarian vehicles, now they verge on being luxury vehicles, in features and price.

I live in a rather rural area, and don't own a truck, but am generally in need of the use of one. It is hard now to find someone willing to put their truck to work for fear of scratching the silly paint job.
I think the best thing for anyone to do with a new truck is to haul a few loads of gravel and dump them off somewhere guaranteed to scratch the finish a bit.....then it'd be a truck!

XD You are constantly looking for an extra job that you can fit in with your 16 unit college schedule so you can afford to make or buy a more efficient vehicle... (Course. XD The fact my car needs replacement... does... double my motivation there. Or maybe only more like +20%. The inefficiency outweighs the poor shape imo......)

while getting ticked off at a overly aggressive driver you chase them down with the intention of giving them a piece of your mind and yet you still pop the tranny into neutral when you start to go down a slight downhill to save gas.........after burning about a gallon of the stuff to chase the guy down.........whom I never caught.......oh well, maybe burning out some carbon might help.
