You may be a hypermiler/ecomodder if:

Your "significant other", tired of hearing about your latest ScanGauge tests, suggests the possibility of hooking up the ScanGauge to YOU!!!

True story - happened to me last night!! LOL!

If you finish up some around-town errands, you don't like the "Current" trip mpg on your ScanGauge and decide to head out on an "easy" stretch of road for a few miles at your "maximum mpg speed" to "up" your average for the trip.

So you wasted fuel to artificially increase your arbitrary number guide...

So you burn more fuel to get better mpg numbers?

YKYAEM when you use the pause that your CFLs take to giggle about the electricity you're not using.

YKYAEI...you see a commercial for a new 2013 vehicle that advertises "Best In-class Fuel Economy". And when you see the number you think, "Double that number, buddy, and then I might be impressed."

I've never done that. Burning fuel to artificially increase average MPG on a tank is a net loss in necessary miles per gallon. I'll just take my lumps and post my fill-ups in my fuel log.

Choosing a slightly longer route which you get better MPGs so your overall fuel usage is lower seems sensible. Extending an existing journey seems odd.

YKYAEM when you can spot others doing the same thing - P&G, DWL, DWB, Engine off at lights. Its a growing activity here.
