I think this was missed in the other thread, but there is a case for multi speed transmissions on EVs, even if only two speeds. Plus who doesn't want a neutral to coast in option? :)...

mine is on, always, about 20milliamps idle. The backlight turns off after 7 minutes of no activity. It keeps the setup parameters in eprom, but the trips are in ram for speed/accuracy.
